ALPHARETTA, GA — Alpharetta is the third most expensive city to live in among the Atlanta metro area, according to a recent study by Zumper. The study also pointed out that the city’s rent has dropped in the past year.
The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Alpharetta is $1,200, above Georgia’s median one-bedroom rent, which sits at $1,030. They got the numbers by analyzing listings posted in January 2018.
The figure of $1,200 is a two-percent decrease from last year. Atlanta, which consistently sees the highest rents in the area, has an median one-bedroom rent of $1,430 monthly, a seven-percent increase from last year.
The biggest increase in rent was in Gainesville, which saw a 15 percent increase, and the biggest decrease was in Smyrna, where rent dropped 11 percent.

Among the cities they ranked, those above the state median are Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Johns creek, Dunwoody, Smyrna and Roswell. Those below the state median are Marietta, Newman, Norcross and Gainesville.
